According to increasing of demand for B.O.C's products and ever-increasing demand of high quality lubricant oil, in 2004 the project titled "Dewaxing / Deoiling" was defined in MEK unit of the refinery. The main aim of this project was increasing B.O.C.'s ability to cover market's demand. Additionally some instances such as change in solvent injection pattern, change in production composition to produce more high quality base oil, improvement in yield and wax producing with lower oil-content and higher value was considered in basic design. At first it had been decided to take advantage of foreign consultant but after considering various aspects and with trust of top management, basic design was taken over to staff experts therefore addition to saving foreign exchange, the ability of this kind of project performance was created domestically.
After starting of installation and putting in operation the new project in MEK unit, with the aim of removing bottlenecks in furfural unit and total capacity increasing in refinery, Furfural Expansion Project was defined and all of design and construction was done coincidently.
After three years continuing effort, in August 2007 this project was put in operation and all of considered aims was reached. Total final investigation of this project was around 16,000,000 Euro and amount of base oil production increased from 130,000 ton per year to 200,000 ton per year.
